The AP English Language and Composition exam is typically administered on a Tuesday morning in the second week of May. The exam consists of two sections: a one-hour multiple-choice section, and a two-hour fifteen-minute free-response section. [2] The exam is further divided as follows:
AP exams were established in 1957; they have a long tradition and are widely accepted. [10] A study has shown that AP students score higher on standardized test scores than non-AP students. [15] The APIEL exam is developed and evaluated by international professors and faculty organizations, rather than only by Americans.
The tests are the culmination of year-long Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which are typically offered at the high school level. AP exams (with few exceptions [8]) have a multiple-choice section and a free-response section. AP Studio Art requires students to submit a portfolio for review.
The tests are free to U.S. military service members and some veterans. [7] [8] There is an additional fee of $10 for the optional essay portion of some of the exams. Each test usually corresponds to a one or two semester introductory course on the topic, though the Spanish, French, and German Language exams can be used to earn up to 12 credits.
The section will have four short-answer questions. AP English Language and Composition [54] Section I (Multiple Choice): The number of questions will be reduced from 52–55 to 45. Section II (Free Response): The questions will now be scored with analytic rubrics. AP Human Geography [55]
