The clipper Fiery Cross left Fuzhou on 29 May and Ariel, Taeping and Serica on the 30th. On 6 September Taeping docked twenty minutes ahead of Ariel, and about two hours ahead of Serica. Fiery Cross and Taitsing arrived two days later. Taeping and Ariel in the Great Tea Race of 1866

Flying Spur was one of the 16 clippers waiting to load tea in Fuzhou in May 1866. These ships were judged to be among the fastest in the tea clipper fleet, and so likely to give a good performance in that year's tea race - the informal contest to be the first ship to dock with the new crop of tea.
Wylo a composite clipper was built by Robert Steele & Company, Greenock, and launched on 15 April 1869. [2] Robert Steele & Company also built the famous clippers Ariel and Taeping who took part in the great tea race of 1866, and Sir Lancelot another renown clipper ship. [1] Wylo was the 174th and last vessel to be built by Robert Steele & Company.
