The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at 16-to-19-year-olds in 140 countries around the world. The programme provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by many universities worldwide.
[3] [4] It offers four educational programmes: the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme for students aged 16 to 19, the IB Middle Years Programme for students aged 12 to 16, and the IB Primary Years Programme for children aged 3 to 12. [5] To teach these programmes, schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate.
Students who complete two group 1 subjects (instead of a group 1 and group 2 subject), or complete a group 3 or 4 subject that is of a different language of the group 1 subject taken by the candidate, are eligible to be awarded a bilingual IB Diploma on the condition that the candidate obtains a level 3 or greater in both subjects. The Language A2 is no longer offered by IB and integrated to Group 1 Language A. [13] Language A2 corresponded to a near-native level of fluency in the foreign language, and as such concentrated less on studying the actual language and more on the literature and culture of the countries where the language is spoken.
In 2017, GIBS became an IB Diploma Program (IBDP) school. [3] The IBDP is an international academic program aimed at students aged 15–19. The introduction of the IBDP at the school made it possible for students to attain two different certificates: the Austrian Matura (Standardisierte Reifeprüfung) and the IB diploma.
In March 2017, the school had approximately 700 students, representing over 60 nationalities and 50 native languages. According to the official IB listing, [1] ISP is the only school in France to offer all three International Baccalaureate programmes: the IB Primary Years Programme, the IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme.
This is also the diploma awarded by English and immersion schools in British Columbia. [26] "Cornouiller" Grade 12 Diploma in French from the BC Ministry of Education.
