The center of Eldersburg is at the intersection of Maryland Route 26 (Liberty Road) and Maryland Route 32 (Sykesville Road). MD 26 leads east 20 miles (32 km) to downtown Baltimore and west 28 miles (45 km) to Frederick, while MD 32 leads north 15 miles (24 km) to Westminster, the Carroll County seat, and south 20 miles (32 km) to Columbia.
En route, MD 32 interchanges with Interstate 70, Interstate 95 and Interstate 97. The current route of MD 32 through Sykesville is a newer bypass, with the original road now designated Maryland Route 851 through central Sykesville. The Carroll Transit System runs the South Carroll TrailBlazer (Red Route), which links Sykesville to Eldersburg. [21]

MD 850I is the designation for a 0.02-mile (0.032 km) section of Old Liberty Road on the westbound side of MD 26 between MD 850J and MD 850H east of Winfield. MD 850I is connected to MD 26 by MD 26A. Liberty High School boasts the longest running robotics team in Carroll County. The FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2199, the Robo-Lions, is a student-run team that was founded as a Liberty High School sports team in the fall of 2006 [11] following the collapse of the county wide team, 1464.
