The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (W.A.K.O or WAKO) is an international kickboxing organization counting over 120 affiliated countries representing all five continents. [1] WAKO is a major governing body of amateur kickboxing and is responsible for the development of kickboxing worldwide.

By the turn-of-the-twentieth-century, the organization began introducing two different world championships every two years - one typically covering forms of kickboxing such as full-contact, semi-contact and musical forms, while the other types such as Thai-boxing, low-kick kickboxing and later K-1 rules.
In 1976, the WKA was founded by Howard Hanson in the United States and originally named World Karate Association.The organization was the first non-profit governing body to use an independently controlled rating list and the first to establish a world championship division for women and the first to include countries from Asia. Valentin Slavikovski is well known for his victories throughout the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO). Thousands of men and women, from over twenty different countries come together to compete for the organization each year. In 2010, Slavikovski took 2nd place at the XVI World Cup for Kickboxing.
