This chapter shows you how to upload an image for use in a Wikipedia article. Until you get an image off your computer and onto a server that Wikipedia uses, you can't use that image in an article. This chapter also shows you how to place an image in an article, after you or someone else has uploaded it.
- Your computer's file manager will open. Find and select the file or image you'd like to attach. Click Open. The file or image will be attached below the body of the email. Please upload the highest resolution image possible, but keep the file size under 1,000 megabytes. Before you add an image to an article, view the image's image description page to make sure its copyright status is clearly stated, preferably with one of the image copyright tags.
To upload a new image, first activate VisualEditor by clicking "edit" at the top of an article. Once the VE toolbar has appeared, click the Insert menu and choose the "Images and media" option. That opens a dialog box which allows you to upload and use images.
