The Tatkal Scheme is a ticketing program established by Indian Railways. The scheme is used for booking journeys at very short notice. The Indian Railways introduced it in all forms of reserved classes on almost all trains in India. It was introduced in 1997, when Nitish Kumar was the Railway Minister of India. [1]
The rake for this train was procured by North Eastern Railways, Lucknow Division from the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala on 21 April 2014. The first trials of the train on its route were carried out on 18 October 2014. [2] The train departed from Lucknow Jn. at 10 AM and reached Anand Vihar Terminal within 7 hours 40 minutes.

The three pairs of trains are commonly known as Purvanchal Express via Ballia and Purvanchal Express via Narkatiaganj.

Only general quota is available & No concession (senior citizen, disabled etc.), modification, upgradation, duplicate ticket, cluster bookings, BPT is permitted in this trains. Identity card details are required at the time of booking tickets. No cancellation is permitted with the only exception being if Indian Railways cancels the train.
