East Grinstead is a town in West Sussex, England, near the East Sussex, Surrey, and Kent borders, 27 miles (43 km) south of London, 21 miles (34 km) northeast of Brighton, and 38 miles (61 km) northeast of the county town of Chichester.
The current East Grinstead station is the fourth to have been constructed in the town. Prior to the arrival of the railway, the nearest stations were 6 miles (9.7 km) away at Godstone on the South Eastern Railway's Redhill to Tonbridge line and at Three Bridges on the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway's Brighton line.

The Worth Way follows for much of its route part of the course of a dismantled railway - the Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells Central Line - which opened in 1855 and closed in 1967 as a result of the programme of closures put forward by East Grinstead resident and British Transport Commission Chairman, Richard Beeching.

Saint Hill Manor is a Grade II listed country house at Saint Hill Green, near East Grinstead in West Sussex, England. It was constructed in 1792 and had several notable owners before being purchased by L. Ron Hubbard and becoming the British headquarters of the Church of Scientology. Numerous protests have taken place outside the property.

The Scientologists in the East Grinstead community are a great lot. They never cause trouble and only add to the culture of the area. I wouldnt agree with EITHER of the above statements. I lived in East Grinstead from 1966 to 1990 and my parents have lived there for 40 years. Scientology does not run East Grinstead. Where are your facts?
