Carnival Dream is a cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. She is the lead ship of her namesake class , which includes Carnival Magic , Carnival Breeze , and Costa Diadema . Built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Friuli-Venezia Giulia , northern Italy, she was floated out on October 24, 2008, and christened by Marcia Gay Harden .
Carnival Dream then launched at Monfalcone on 24 October 2008. [5] The ship was delivered on 17 September 2009, eleven months after her launch, at the Monfalcone yards. [6] The option for a second vessel was exercised, which turned into Carnival Magic. The ship was ordered on 18 December 2006 [7] and keel was then laid on 12 January 2010. [8]
The film featured one of Carnival's newest and biggest cruise ships, Carnival Dream. The external shots and interior stateroom suite were filmed during a seven-day Caribbean cruise. The casino, dance club, and dining room were filmed on a set not attempting to match the actual interior of the Carnival Dream cruise ship.
Carnival Magic was laid down on 20 November 2008, launched from her drydock on 27 August 2010 and completed on 29 April 2011. [8] Sea trials were undertaken between 17 and 20 March 2011. [9] She has 1,845 passenger cabins and 746 crew cabins, and can carry over 6,000 persons in total. [10]
On September 4, 2018, due to heavy rain and flooding in Galveston, Texas, Carnival Valor ' s departure was delayed. [11] On January 23, 2019, the ship lost power at sea for an hour when she left Galveston on her way to Cozumel. [12] On May 10, 2019, the ship repositioned and switched homeports with Carnival Dream to begin short sailings. [13]
Carnival Legend is a Spirit-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Kværner Masa-Yards at its Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki , Finland, she was floated out on 17 December 2001, and christened by English actress and author Dame Judi Dench in Harwich , Essex, UK, on 21 August 2002.
Carnival Inspiration (formerly Inspiration) was a Fantasy-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Kværner Masa-Yards at its Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki , Finland, she was floated out on April 1, 1996, and christened as Inspiration by Mary Anne Shula. [ 5 ]
She is the line's first vessel, later followed by the Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, and Disney Treasure. She has 11 public decks, can accommodate 2,700 passengers in 875 staterooms, [1] and has a crew of approximately 950. The interior of Disney Magic is decorated in the Art Deco style.
