Boney M. are a R&B, reggae, funk and disco music group founded in 1974, who achieved popularity during the disco era of the second half of the 1970s. [1] The band was created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group's primary songwriter.
The first Boney M. recording "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" (1975) is based on Prince Buster's "Al Capone" (1967). " Motherless Child " (1977) is a rewrite of " Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child ". " Ma Baker " is a rewrite of a Tunisian traditional song, Sidi Mansur.
The album was finally released in May 1984 and was also Boney M.'s debut on the new compact disc format, followed by a ZDF TV-special airing in August. The single chosen to promote the finished album was the ballad "Somewhere in the World"; it became the fourth consecutive Boney M. single not to reach the German Top 40.
