Bo-Katan Kryze (voiced by Katee Sackhoff) first appeared in the fourth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in the episode "A Friend in Need" as the lieutenant of Death Watch, a terrorist group seeking to overthrow the pacifist government of Mandalore, under the leadership of Pre Vizsla (voiced by Jon Favreau).
The Mandalorian is reluctant. Bo-Katan mocks him saying, "This is the Way." The Captain alerts Moff Gideon, but it is too late for help. Gideon tells the Captain to sacrifice the ship to kill them all. The Mandalorian makes a dangerous charge at a group of stormtroopers, allowing the rest of the group to take control of the ship in time.
A young Jango is the only survivor and, while horrified, helps Jaster and his men escape and ambush Death Watch. Jaster subsequently adopts Jango and welcomes him into his faction. Years later, Jango has become a full-fledged Mandalorian warrior under Jaster's tutelage. The Mandalorians are ambushed by Death Watch, and Jaster is killed by Vizsla.

When Obi-Wan arrives on Mandalore, he is quickly captured and forced to watch as Maul executes Satine. Obi-Wan is later freed by Bo-Katan's Death Watch faction. Meanwhile, Darth Sidious learns of Maul's survival and the power he has accumulated, and, fearing that his former apprentice may challenge him, travels to Mandalore to address the matter.
