Hi! I tried to watch live football last night on my TV from Amazon Prime . Right from the start the picture would split into four, then it would fill the whole screen but with only part of the pitch showing. It was awful! It continued to do this during the half-time discussions and the adverts.
The SkyQ Judder control is a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut - for apps like Amazon Prime it converts everything to 60 Hz, whereas the football is 50 Hz. Even given that, very few boxes / TV sets get this right for Prime.
The games were live on Premier Sports on Sky Q but the image quality was awful and I'm not a fan of the pundits so chose the Amazon streams with the unavoidable 20 second live lag. Hoping Jeff pays some taxes today, has a cup of tea and a sit down before delivering a smashing stream for the Norwich game tonight. OTBC!
When I watch Champions League football on Prime the quality is bad despite being UHD (I believe). It seems to be the wide view, so you’ll see most of the players on the pitch and they’ll have pixel blurring around them and generally looks awful, but then when it’s a pitch side camera and looks at a players face the quality is excellent.
A few weeks ago, when it was on offer, I paid for an Amazon Prime subscription, mainly to get next day deliveries. It wasn't until later that I realised as part of the subscription you also get to view some of the Premiership football live. Can anyone advise how you get to find out when they're...
Just watching live prem league action on Prime Video between Liv vs Leicester. It says 4K and HDR but on the actual content, it labels in HDR but not in 4K! But, when I watch it; it's just in HD and not HDR?! What's going on.
The Channel 4 live transmission, on Sky HD, is fine - a clear picture with no such blurring. I wrote to Channel 4 and all I got was a lot of instructions to factory reset my "freeview recorder" whatever that means, and also my broadband router. I'm also reminded that football on Amazon Prime suffers from the same effect.
When watching the live football on Prime app on Sony tv the motion is terrible, so juddery especially when the ball is passed. Everything else on the Prime app like tv and movies are perfect even in 4k HJDR, it just seems to football that is poor. Tried it on the Sky Q box and its a bit better...
People expecting it to improve are likely to be disappointed as Amazon have had ATP tennis all year so have had plenty of time to perfect live streaming of sports. The other issue with streaming sports is the delay, I didn't check the delay on the football tonight but tennis was anything from 30 seconds to a minute behind making inplay betting ...
