Alpine fleabanes, or daisies, are sunflower family members. They include dwarf mountain fleabane, or cut-leaf daisy [4]: 223 (Erigeron compositus), typifies the dwarfed growth pattern of the alpine zone, with disproportionately large flower heads compared to body size (1/4 to 1/2 the height of the flower stem).
The flower heads are 3–5 cm (1 + 1 ⁄ 4 –2 in) wide, [5] and usually light blue [6] or lavender; it has also rarely been described as white or pink. [5] Of the two rows of involucral bracts, the inner is longer and erect, the outer is shorter and spreading. It flowers from March until October. [6] The seed has small scales at the tip. [6]

Baptisia australis, commonly known as blue wild indigo or blue false indigo, is a flowering plant in the family Fabaceae (legumes). Key identification features include a dark, wiry, blue or purple stem, and flower heads in the leaf axils instead of in a large array at the top of the plant. [3] Prefers medium to part shade, and can often be found in wooded areas.
It is a slender herbaceous plant growing to 80 centimetres (31 + 1 ⁄ 2 inches) tall, with spirally arranged narrow lanceolate leaves 1–3 cm (1 ⁄ 2 – 1 + 1 ⁄ 4 in) long. The flowers are pale blue or lavender to white, often veined in darker blue, with five petals 1–1.5 cm long and in varying length styles.
