I'm doing the same installation with an Aprilaire 700 automatic , except that my furnace control strip is a little bit different. This furnace is a brand new (December 2010) Carrier 58 cva gas fired hot air unit. My terminal strip doesnt have the *C* terminal, it has a *Com24* terminal. Vertically , from the top the terminals are: W2 Y1 DHUM G ...
I love how aprilaire's own documents show it 2 different ways. Per what the model 60 control instructions show they are dry contacts. Per what the 700A instructions show they are live. I just noticed that the 700A instructions show a different humidistat all together with different connections....
5. The Gf terminal on the humidifier controller. The humidifier instructions say to connect this to the FURNACE G terminal. QUESTION 2 on the above items 4 & 5: The humidifier installation wiring diagram does not have the furnace G terminal connected to the thermostat G terminal.
I purchased Aprilaire 700 automatic that came with an outdoor sensor humidistat and separate 24vac transformer. I also have a Honeywell EIM, Prestige IAQ 2.0 Thermostat with ourdoor air/humidity sensor that I plan to install today.
I just purchased an Aprilaire 700 humidifier for our home and hope to get some guidance on where to install in the ductwork. The directions say the supply side vertical duct is the preferred location.
I just received the Aprilaire 700. The unit I received came with a separate 24v transformer After some consideration I've decided to have it professionally installed. The installer will be out this coming Monday. I want to make the install as easy as possible for my HVAC tech to keep my installation cost down.
Good news to report! I wired the 24V transformer as proposed and the new Aprilaire fan and solenoid fires right up as intended. It activates when the furnace kicks on and the tstat calls for humidity. So the older HEIL, which looks identical to the Aprilaire 700, doesn't need the 24V, but Aprilaire does.
I installed an Aprilaire 700 (with the automatic digital control model 60). Everything works great, except that the humidifier water and fan run whenever it calls for humidity, and has no regard for the furnace blower. I does have the "blower activation" switch, but having it on or off makes no difference.

Here's the key issue, the wires that are stubbed out for the solenoid connection are parallel wired to a relay on the AA 700's control board. That relay turns the AA 700's self contained fan on when the solenoid is energized from some remote 24 vac source. That make the AA 700 fully controllable by utilizing only those 2 wires stubbed out.
