Full disclosure - I am very familiar with UCSD. It’s not difficult but it has become more impacted. Many out of state people have fled to the West Coast plus hiring has slowed down plus turnover wasn’t as bad as other places. Alvarado is being bought up by UCSD, so keep your hopes up for that future expansion.
There’s no tip really. If you’re applying for HDH jobs then it’s pretty much guaranteed. If you’re applying for driver then you’ll need driver license and other documentation. Office job (I have this job) then it’s kinda 75/25 you’ll get it. This university operates on cheap students’ labors ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
It will depend a lot on what type of job. Jobs like CSOs, Shuttles, HDH, etc are always short-staffed and hiring. Trying to work at Geisel or something similar is a lot harder unless you have work study. Plus you said you were looking for easy jobs- those are definitely going to be the ones with the most competition and fewest spots.

source for the following information: have two on campus jobs, stayed in SD for the summer last year and worked at one of them You’re probably going to struggle to find an on campus job during the summer because many student friendly jobs (housing, hdh, admin, etc.) close or reduce their hours significantly due to the lack of students.

Which is advantageous when in person classes are being held. But overall, I like working there because you get to meet people. Most of us are tight (at cafe V) so yeah. Highly recommend dinning halls if you are seeking for social life & free meal. But desk jobs are also good if you need more study time. =)
Drive the bussy 21.40 an hour and you make your own schedule every quarter plus you can pick up extra shifts whenever you want and you’re allowed to go over 20 hours if you want.
