I have added a linear transparency to an image but whenever I export it it takes the background color with it and becomes a solid image. I want it to remain transparent so that I can add it to my website and have it be sort of like a veil where the background color shines threw. TiA for any help.
The image should be 100% opaque in the centre and gradually become more transparent as you near the edges. So that on a web-site the background gradually shows through. I have been trying to work out how to do this for hours on PaintShop Pro X and Serif PhotoPlus 9 and cannot do it.
Hi toonicorn, I had a look at your file, lovely drawing by the way, The simplest way to do this is to select the background photo with the white background and first double click it and crop as much of the background down as you can, then with the photo stil selected go to your live effects and xara comes with mehdi eraser which will remove the white background.
On a layer, make a grid of pixels of alternate colours, one the colour of your background and the other transparent (or simply omit to apply a colour). The result should be a very fine chequerboard effect. Move this selection over your image and you'll see that only the pixels that are transparent will allow the underlying image to show through.

The process I have used so far is to open the eps or tif file, change the background to a layer, select and delete the area which needs to be transparent and then try to use "save as" to get the new tif file.

HI All, I received a graphic to add to a website but it has a white background. I'm not too sure how to remove the background so that the image can be placed onto the website and not be an obvious "added" graphic. I wondered whether anyone could help? The graphic is from the Scottish Tourist Board, and is below. Many thanks in advance. Andy
