Meet Dram Dragoyin, the half-orc bladesinger. The old man tried to scream, but a punch to his gut from the thug’s knuckle dusters knocked the wind out from him. Falling to the ground with tears in his eyes, the old man helplessly watched as the crooks snatched his purse, eagerly removing its coins like ravenous hyenas.
Just from looking at it, it seems fully self capable. Taking 1 or 2 levels in fighter might be cool, but i would wait until after 6lvls in bladesinger to get that extra attack. Single class Bladesinger is usually the most optimized. But if you're thinking in terms of character design/abilities, dips aint bad.
Oct 14, 2016. #1. Hello everybody! First, Here's the guide! NADRIGOL's Melee Bladesinger Guide. This is a guide specifically for building melee focused Bladesingers, with emphasis on multi-classing. I have plenty of caveats and explanations in my opening sections about the focus and breadth of this guide.
Surrounded by chaos and blood, the bladesinger moves in an otherworldly dance. Spells and sword act in concert, meshing awe. the last thing the bladesinger’s enemy hears. The elves and half-elves who practice the art of the bladesinger, a tradition found primarily on the world of Toril, appear to be almost casual in combat. Wizard.
Shore up your defenses: Bladesong ameliorates the d6 hit die for a melee combatant. The Bladesinger's real defensive prowess comes from stacking other defensive buffs on top of it. My Favorite Spell Strategies. Greater Invisibility & Booming Blade: Invisibility ticks each box in the general strategies list, granting you advantage, imposing ...
For most bladesinger's I'd recommend dipping fighter for the first level to pick up con save and dual weild (or protection depending on your role) tho with artificer it's really tempting to pick that for a 2-3 level dip to get con save, infusions, +1 to weapons and armor, your weapon and armor into foci, cure wounds and sanctuary if you go 3 ...
Generally just casting a leveled spell is going to be better than taking the attack action as a bladesinger. 5e is terrible for gish builds honestly. The swords AND sorcery fantasy of a gish gets turned into "mediocre swords this turn, mediocre sorcery next turn" in most gish builds.
Additionally you could do bladesinger 6, bloodhunter (profane soul) 4, and then arcane trickster 10. This gets you an additional elemental damage die, a blood curse, and most importantly armour of agathys, hex, and eldritch blast - all without having to invest in charisma. 1. Reply.
Blur on Bladesinger is practically immune to melee attacks when AC >25. Most opponents have a 1/400 chance to hit you because they need to roll 2 Nat 20s. Bladesinger allows you to adapt on the fly. The subclass really struggles when people pick it to stick it into a mold of "I'll go melee" or "I'll go this combo".
Probably the third strongest magic item you can get (after Staff of the Magi and Tome of the Stilled Tongue). Use a Shadow Blade in your main hand, staff off-hand as your focus. You get a free +2 to AC/Saving Throws and spell attack rolls and a shitton of extra spells per day. Take this thing.
