A civil group to talk about the New York State lottery, experiences, challenges, ways to make it better, and feel good new stories. More than just posting numbers and winners, working to make the system better. Anything to do with the New York lottery.
95 votes, 146 comments. true. Not for nothin’ but work and hard are both 4 letter words and both typically occur within the same sentence (just like shit, which coincedentally also frequently appears in the same sentence as the other two) .

The difference between a loan and lottery winnings (or an inheritance or some other "unearned" windfall) is that the latter comes with 0% interest and no repayment schedule. :) (FWIW, I agree with you about my wished-for jackpot. On the rare occasion that I do play the lottery, I only play the state "normal" lottery.)
It well worth it to play the lottery once in a blue moon for me. The anticipation and thinking about how id use the money sort of exiting. Unless you think spending 3 dollars on lotto tickets every decade is a waste.
Make a reddit post and say "I will donate 10,000 to the charity of reddits choice" It would be like giving it to a random stranger but way more beneficial to the world. I'm sure you give a lot anyways, but it could be a fun diversion.
Would you like to win $1 billion+ dollars or a smaller but sufficient amount? At that point you become a public figure that will probably need security 24/7 for the rest of your life (Edwin Castro), unlikely to mingle with the billionaire businessmen but also hard to keep socializing with your previous friends.
I recently won about $2.3 million playing the lottery in my state. Using a throwaway for obvious reasons. Note, this is AFTER TAX money, in my pocket now. No need to discuss annuities, etc. I'm 30 y/o, have a full time job making about $100k per year. I have about $125k in a 401k, an another $25k in cash.
Thanks for the response! I do agree that the app + all their social media stuff is well-run. I’ve won a couple decent little prizes from their Facebook live streams, and of course, have hit some luck with the actual tickets I purchase - but nothing in second chance or other drawings from ticket entries…not yet, at least.
