After passing the California Horse Racing Board's Steward Examination in 1991, White retired from riding in 1992 to become a racing official. She returned to the saddle for appearances in the Lady Legends for the Cure event held by Pimlico Race Course from 2010 to 2014. Her final ride was aboard Macho Spaces at Pimlico in 2014. [11]

In Lexington, Kentucky, the road into the Masterson Station Park is named "Ruffian Way" and a monument in her honor can be found inside the park.

She won 37 of 43 career starts, including, between May 2015 and her retirement in April 2019, her last 33 races in succession, including 25 Group 1s (a world record), at distances ranging from 1300 metres (roughly 6 + 1 ⁄ 2 furlongs) to 2200 metres (roughly 11 furlongs).
