Premier Badminton League, aka PBL, is a team badminton league operating in India. It was launched in 2016 and is one of the top badminton leagues in the world. [ 1 ] It features nine state or city-based franchise teams and the top Indian and international badminton talent.
The season was held from 2–17 January 2016. The opening ceremony was held in Mumbai and the Finals in Delhi. [1] Delhi Dashers (formerly Delhi Acers) became the champions after beating Mumbai Rockets in the final. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar was brand ambassador of the league. [2] [3] [4]

On the final day of the players' registration window, Gopalganj Sporting Club confirmed their withdrawal from the BPL due to the financial shortage. [6] In May 2024, the BFF announced that there will be only one relegation this season as the league was kicked off with reduced participants after Gopalganj's withdrawal. [ 7 ]
