Maricopa County Courthouse built in 1928. In this court house the trial of infamous Winnie Ruth Judd, a.k.a. "The Trunk Murderess", was held. The historic "Miranda rights" were established in this court after the arrest of Ernesto Miranda. Both Judd and Miranda were incarcerated in the jail located on the sixth floor.
The Civil Engineering Maintenance Shop also known as S-735, located in Unity Ave. (Jct. of 11th and A Sts.), at Arizona State University at the Polytechnic campus (Formally Williams AFB), Mesa, Arizona. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, ref: #95000747.
The first survey conducted in 1867, involved the first 36 miles of Arizona. Up until 1874, this was the epicenter of all surveying in Arizona for property deeds. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 2002, reference #02001137. Monument Hill is located at 115th Ave. and Baseline Road in Avondale, Az. [1] [2]
This cemetery was once located in the heart of the labor camps and played a very important role in Arizona's history. The restoration of this historic property could not be completed without the help of the community and Goodyear Farms, directed by Mr. Jose M. Villela, Historian and Dr. Grace Burruel Farnam Consultant.
Arizona State University and SHESC have worked together to provide numerous exhibits at the site that further enhance the educational mission of the site. The permanent exhibit, Leaving Marks: The Rock Art and Archaeology of Deer Valley, seeks to provide a detailed history of the site and the significance it has to the surrounding areas.
