The Nātya Shastra is an ancient Indian treatise on the performing arts, embracing Indian theatre, early Indian classical dance and Indian classical music. Sangita Ratnakara was written by Śārṅgadeva, also spelled Sarangadeva or Sharangadeva.Śārṅgadeva was born in a Brahmin family of Kashmir.
