The North American eighth generation Honda Accord is a mid-size car introduced in August 2007 for the 2008 model year. [2] It is also marketed in parts of Asia and Australasia, and as the Honda Inspire in Japan. The size of the 2008 Accord has been increased by 4 inches (102 mm) in length and 3 inches (76 mm) in width.
The eighth generation Honda Accord for Japanese and European markets is a mid-size car. It went on sale in mid 2008 for the 2009 model year. The Japanese-built Accord is also sold in Australia and New Zealand as the Accord Euro. It is also available in US, Canada, and Mexico as the second-generation Acura TSX.
Honda claimed the Comstar design combined the strength of a cast wheel but allowed a predetermined level of radial flex like spoked wheels. In Australia, the sixth-generation Accord went on sale in December 1997, and was initially imported from the United States. However, in 1999, the Accord became the first Honda in Australia to be imported from Thailand. In March 2001, the Accord received a facelift, while at the same time, the option of a manual transmission was dropped.
The Crosstour was marketed as a "hatchback"/"wagon" variation of the Accord and shared the same platform.The Crosstour was powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine (choice of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive) or 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine (front-wheel drive only), [4] with prices that started at $29,670, above those of the Accord sedan (which started at under $23,000).
