Wawa station is a commuter rail station on the SEPTA Regional Rail Media/Wawa Line, located adjacent to U.S. Route 1 in Middletown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.The original station was built by the West Chester and Philadelphia Railroad and later served the Pennsylvania Railroad's West Chester Branch, which finally became SEPTA's R3 line (later renamed to the "Media/Elwyn Line").

The Media/Wawa Line is a SEPTA Regional Rail service that runs from Center City Philadelphia west to Wawa in Delaware County.It uses the West Chester Branch, which connects with the SEPTA Main Line at 30th Street Station.
SEPTA operated the line as its R3-Media/West Chester service until 1986, when service was truncated to Elwyn. Eighteen West Chester-Center City trains had operated on weekdays along with eleven West Chester-Media shuttle trains. [8] SEPTA restored rail service west of Elwyn to a new park and ride station in Wawa in 2022. [9]
Financial difficulties followed, and work was suspended until 1856, when the line opened to Grubb's Bridge (now Wawa). The remaining line to West Chester was completed by November 1858. [ 1 ] : 513 [ 2 ] The WC&P was the second railroad to serve the borough of West Chester.
SEPTA's creation provided government subsidies to such operations and thus kept them from closing down. For the railroads, at first it was a matter of paying the existing railroad companies to continue passenger service. In 1966 SEPTA had contracts with the PRR and Reading to continue commuter rail services in the Philadelphia region. [15]
