Melanterite is a mineral form of hydrous iron(II) sulfate: FeSO 4 ·7H 2 O. It is the iron analogue of the copper sulfate chalcanthite. It alters to siderotil by loss of water. It is a secondary sulfate mineral which forms from the oxidation of primary sulfide minerals such as pyrite and marcasite in the near-surface environment.
The name copperas dates from times when the copper(II) sulfate was known as blue copperas, and perhaps in analogy, iron(II) and zinc sulfate were known respectively as green and white copperas. [18] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines. [19]
The formation of Fe(III)-EDTA (FeY) − can be described as follows: FeSO 4 ∙7H 2 O + K 2 H 2 Y + 1/4 O 2 → K[FeY(H 2 O)]. H 2 O + KHSO 4 + 5.5 H 2 O (1) [8]. Iron chelate has also been used as a bait in the chemical control of slugs, snails and slaters in agriculture in Australia and New Zealand.

The free radicals generated by this process engage in secondary reactions. For example, the hydroxyl is a powerful, non-selective oxidant. [6] Oxidation of an organic compound by Fenton's reagent is rapid and exothermic and results in the oxidation of contaminants to primarily carbon dioxide and water.
Zinc sulfate is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnSO 4.It forms hydrates ZnSO 4 ·nH 2 O, where n can range from 0 to 7. All are colorless solids. The most common form includes water of crystallization as the heptahydrate, [4] with the formula Zn SO 4 ·7H 2 O.
A Many websites state that black vitriol "is a mixture of iron sulfate and iron sulfite", but none give a reference of any sort. The book, Chemistry, Inorganic & Organic, with Experiments, by Bloxam [4] is a published, reliable reference for the composition of black vitriol, and it states on page 513, "The formula of black vitriol may be written [CuMgFeMnCoNi]SO 4 ·7H 2 O, the six isomorphous ...
Ammonium iron(II) sulfate, or Mohr's salt, is the inorganic compound with the formula (NH 4) 2 SO 4 ·Fe(SO 4)·6H 2 O.Containing two different cations, Fe 2+ and NH + 4, it is classified as a double salt of ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate.
