Daughter Rebecca McIntosh married Benjamin Hawkins in the Western Muscogee Nation in 1831. [4] Benjamin knew Sam Houston, and in 1833 he and Rebecca moved to Marion County, Texas, on the territory's eastern border, where they developed the Refuge plantation.
