In November 2020, Brightline and Walt Disney World Resort announced an agreement to build a station in Disney Springs as a part of its Tampa extension. The high-speed rail corridor between Disney Springs and Orlando International Airport was projected to cost $1 billion and travel alongside Florida State Road 417.
While construction is underway to Orlando, Brightline is pursuing a $38 million in federal money to help fund its extension from there to Tampa.
