Lake Eustis is located in Central Florida, west of the city of Eustis. It covers approximately 7,000 acres (28 km 2 ). It is spring fed and is a member of the Harris Chain of Lakes, and is connected to Lake Harris by means of the Dead River. The St. Johns and Lake Eustis Railway was leased to the Florida Southern Railway, a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge system, from 1885 to 1889 and subleased to the Jacksonville, Tampa and Key West Railway from 1889 to 1890. The lease was cancelled in 1890 and the St. Johns and Lake Eustis Railway resumed operations until 1893.
