The Red Pontiac (also known as Dakota Chief) is a red-skinned early main crop potato variety originally bred in the United States, [1] and is sold in the United States, Canada, Australia, Marruecos, the Philippines, Venezuela and Uruguay. It arose as a color mutant of the original Pontiac variety in Florida [2] by a J.W. Weston in 1945. [3]
It is a versatile, fairly waxy variety which is firm and holds its shape, and is useful for all methods of cooking, from roasting to mashing and salads. It is immune to potato wart and it is resistant to skin spot. It has good resistance to PVY, tuber late blight and blackleg. It also has moderate resistance to PVA, PVX and fusarium dry rot.

A Marfona is a potato cultivar with a moderately waxy texture. It originated in the Netherlands in 1975. [1] It has a light brown or yellow skin and a yellow to cream flesh, [2] and is a high yielding Second Early variety. [3] Due to the potato having a strong flavour it is very good for use as baking, boiling and mashing. [2]
