This is a list of lakes in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. Virginia has two natural lakes, and several man-made lakes and reservoirs. [1] Swimming, fishing, and/or boating are permitted in some of these lakes, but not all.
A 1,145-acre (463 ha) lake is formed behind the dam with almost 40 miles (64 km) of shoreline. South of the dam is the emergency spillway. The spillway contains six 42-by-38-foot (13 by 12 m) gates used to control high water and prevent the lake from flowing over the top of the dam.

Twin Lakes is located in southern Greene County around a set of small reservoirs built on Quarter Creek, a southwest-flowing tributary of Swift Run, which in turn runs south to the North Fork of the Rivanna River, part of the James River watershed.
