Founded in 1947 in a Grade II listed town house in Looe Street, Plymouth Arts Centre was opened by art historian Kenneth Clark. [1] The building is listed as part of a significant group of seventeenth and eighteenth century town houses in the street, many of which are listed. It is a three-storey building that at one time was used as a shop.
The Box is a museum, gallery and archive in Plymouth, Devon, England, opened in 2020 housing a collection of about 2 million items. [1] [2] The core of the building was previously Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery which closed in 2016. The building was created in 1907–1910 by Thornely and Rooke in Edwardian Baroque style.
