The center of the Proctor District is located at the cross streets of Proctor Street and North 26th Street in Tacoma. The 1927 Proctor Street bridge just north of the district was rebuilt in 2006. A major commercial and residential development, Proctor Station, has been a controversial project due to its size and cost.

Tacoma School District No. 10, commonly called Tacoma Public Schools, is a school district headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, United States. Composed of 36 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 4 early learning centers. It is the third-largest school district in Washington State.
Clover Park High School has an Air Force JROTC program, and Lakes High School has an Army JROTC program. About 31% of students within the district live on a military base while 40% are funded military dependents. From 1985 to 2011, there have been 90 appointments to military academies from CPSD.

In 2015 Amy Eveskcige, who previously worked for Puyallup School District and Tacoma Public Schools, became the superintendent of Chief Leschi. [8] She was the first Puyallup member to be appointed superintendent. [9] In May 2016 the school laid off 50 employees, with 22 of them being certified. The layoffs represented 27% of the employees. The University Place School District #83, located in University Place, Washington, between Tacoma and Puget Sound, was officially established on November 2, 1895.
