J. Richard Steadman (June 4, 1937 – January 20, 2023) was an American orthopedic surgeon and founder of The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) located in Vail, Colorado. Steadman revolutionized orthopedic surgery.

Vail Health Hospital began as Vail Clinic in 1965 and was staffed by just one doctor, Dr. Tom Steinberg. The first hospital building was constructed in 1967, and it was expanded in 1979.
