Wickramabahu Central College (National School) (Sinhala: වික්රමබාහු මධ්ය විද්යාලය(ජාතික පාසල)), founded in 1946, is a Madhya Maha Vidyalaya (central college) located in Gampola in Central Province, Sri Lanka.
It is the oldest such body in any branch of the basic in sciences in Sri Lanka. The Golden Jubilee of the Institute was held in 1991 & the Diamond Jubilee in 2001. The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon was incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 15 of 1972.

The Faculty of Science offer undergraduate level programmes that leads to Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Science Honours (BSc (Hons)) degrees. It also offer postgraduate programmes leading to Master of Science (MSc), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees and postgraduate diplomas.
The University of Ceylon was the only university in Sri Lanka (earlier Ceylon) from 1942 until 1972. It had several constituent campuses at various locations around Sri Lanka. The University of Ceylon Act No. 1 of 1972, replaced it with the University of Sri Lanka which existed from 1973 to 1978.
