Freaks, originally intended as a vehicle for Lon Chaney, [7] is set amongst the backdrop of a travelling French circus and follows a conniving trapeze artist who joins a group of carnival sideshow performers with a plan to seduce and murder a midget in the troupe to gain his inheritance. However, her plot proves to have dangerous consequences.
Schlitzie landed his best-known role as an actor in Tod Browning's 1932 horror film Freaks. Like The Sideshow, Freaks takes place at a carnival and features a number of genuine sideshow performers, including conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, "The Living Torso" Prince Randian, and dwarf siblings Harry and Daisy Earles.

Josephine-Joseph's birth name as well as date of birth and death is unknown and although prominent in circus performance, JJ is probably best known for her film role in the Tod Browning, pre-code production Freaks in 1932, her only screen credit. Her body was supposedly split down the middle, one side female and the other male.

John Eckhardt Jr, (August 27, 1911 – January 5, 1991), professionally billed as Johnny Eck, was an American freak show performer in sideshows and a film actor. Born with sacral agenesis, Eck is best known today for his role in Tod Browning's 1932 cult classic film Freaks and his appearances as a bird creature in several Tarzan films.
