Illinois Route 56 (IL 56) is a 32.52-mile-long (52.34 km) east–west state highway in northern and northeastern Illinois.It runs from the interchange of Illinois Route 47 at U.S. Route 30 (US 30) in Sugar Grove east to US 12/US 20/US 45 (Mannheim Road) by Bellwood. [1]

From U.S. Route 30, Orchard Road continues northbound into the western reaches of Aurora, serving as a main north-south artery alternative to Illinois Route 31 and Illinois Route 25, which are generally slower. It crosses Galena Boulevard, the main east-west access to downtown Aurora.
From 1963 to 1965, the tollway was marked as US 30 Toll and ran along modern-day I-88, I-294, and the present-day IL 394 (which in 1963 was called IL 1 until 1964, when it became IL 394). The East-West Tollway portion was renamed to IL 190 in 1965 and eventually became IL 5 before becoming I-88 in 1988.
