It mostly includes areas from the former New Westminster riding, and parts of the adjusted Coquitlam-Maillardville electoral district.
The riding was created in 2003 from parts of New Westminster—Coquitlam—Burnaby, Vancouver South—Burnaby, and Burnaby—Douglas..
