The Kettle Valley Rail Trail is a multi-use recreational rail trail located in the Okanagan-Boundary region of southern British Columbia. The trail uses a rail corridor that was originally built for the now-abandoned Kettle Valley Railway. The trail was developed during the 1990s after the Canadian Pacific Railway abandoned train service.

The opening of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) main line up the Fraser Canyon in the mid-1880s diminished the trail use basically to herding horses by 1889. The Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail [1] is a rail trail running along the former route of the Timboon railway line, from Camperdown to Timboon in Victoria's southwest. The 22 km section from Camperdown to Timboon was completed in 2009, with the section from Camperdown to Naroghid on-road, and the remainder following the roadbed of the former railway.
Progress in completing the trail was slow and interest in hiking the complete trail was minimal. By 1995, only 15 people were recorded as having hiked the whole trail, still largely unfinished. In that same year, the Continental Divide Trail Alliance (CDTA) was created and with volunteers built or improved the route of the trail.
