Two years later, in 1965, Remington Arms adopted the .22-250, added "Remington" to the name and chambered their Model 700 and 40 XB match rifles for the cartridge along with a line of commercial ammunition, thus establishing its commercial specification. [6] The .22-250 was the first non-Weatherby caliber offered in the unique Weatherby Mark V ...
Straight-pull rifles differ from conventional bolt-action mechanisms in that the manipulation required from the user in order to chamber and extract a cartridge predominantly consists of a linear motion only, as opposed to a traditional turn-bolt action where the user has to manually rotate the bolt for chambering and primary extraction.

The Remington Model 783 is a civilian bolt action hunting rifle built by Remington for the budget market. The rifle was launched in 2013 (which is where the "3" in 783 originates) and is considered a spiritual successor to the Remington Model 788 (which is where the "78" in 783 originates).
The rifle is known for having very good precision, and has been used by hunters and sport shooters, and also in a sniper version known as SIG Sauer SSG 2000 by police and defense forces. For being a hunting rifle, the Sauer 80/90 is known for having a somewhat high weight compared to competing models. [citation needed]
Performance is similar to the popular .22-250. Once Remington introduced rifles in .22-250, they quickly superseded the .224 Weatherby Magnum in popularity, forcing Weatherby to chamber rifles in .22-250. This was the first time that Weatherby offered rifles in a commercial chambering. [6]
The bolt pictured is a pre-1975 locking model from a .308 Winchester caliber rifle. The locking bolt requires the safety to be in the "fire" or "off" position in order to rotate the handle and actuate the bolt. Rifles manufactured from 1975 to 1983 have non-locking bolts which can be actuated while the safety is engaged.
