The dealership recommended a replacement engine and Ford agreed. The dealer arranged a loaner vehicle from a rental car company (a rather nice Dodge Rebel pickup) and now I am awaiting the new (not reman) long block engine's arrival and installation. I was told the new engine would have a 12 month, 12K mile warranty.

1997 - 2003 Ford F150 - 1998 F-150 4.6L engine replacement options - I recently picked up a '98 F-150 with a 4.6L (Vin W) engine that's overheating. 2009 - 2014 Ford F150 - 2011 5.0 Engine and Transmission Replacement - Hello All, I wanted to start a thread to share my experiences as they unfold and discuss some pros and cons of decisions I made, or alternatives some of you may have chosen in similar situations.
I am looking for solid advice here. I have an original 3.5L EcoBoost engine in my 2012 F-150 with 180K miles and some change. At the very least I am looking at needing to replace driver’s side turbo, timing chain, and driver’s side cylinder head. It seems that the best bet is to opt for a replacement engine.

We've decided the best route, with the mileage is probably an engine replacement. I called a shop in Edmonton and they quoted me $6800 for a rebuilt 5.0 longblock and 24hrs labour. With miscellaneous costs it came to just under $11,000. Is that a ballpark figure? My mechanic, said if I can find an engine, he'll put it in for between $1700-2000.
