Many ARM-based processors, such as Apple's M series SoCs, do not feature SMT as it is less beneficial on processors with a short processor pipeline and including it increases the physical core area. With a longer processor pipeline, like the one used by Intel, it is more difficult to keep the CPU cores fed with useful data in a workload.
The Raptor Lake-U Refresh series is the first processor family to use the new "Core 3/5/7" branding scheme introduced in mid 2023. On December 14, 2023, Intel announced the Raptor Cove-based Xeon E-2400 series for entry-level servers.
Before the Coffee Lake architecture, most Xeon and all desktop and mobile Core i3 and i7 supported hyper-threading while only dual-core mobile i5's supported it. Post Coffee Lake, increased core counts meant hyper-threading is not needed for Core i3, as it then replaced the i5 with four physical cores on the desktop platform.
In each generation, the highest-performing Core i7 processors use the same socket and QPI-based architecture as the medium-end Xeon processors of that generation, while lower-performing Core i7 processors use the same socket and PCIe/DMI/FDI architecture as the Core i5. "Core i7" is a successor to the Intel Core 2 brand.
The latest badge promoting the Intel Core branding. The following is a list of Intel Core processors. This includes Intel's original Core (Solo/Duo) mobile series based on the Enhanced Pentium M microarchitecture, as well as its Core 2- (Solo/Duo/Quad/Extreme), Core i3-, Core i5-, Core i7-, Core i9-, Core M- (m3/m5/m7/m9), Core 3-, Core 5-, and Core 7- Core 9-, branded processors.

Ivy Bridge is the codename for Intel's 22 nm microarchitecture used in the third generation of the Intel Core processors (Core i7, i5, i3). Ivy Bridge is a die shrink to 22 nm process based on FinFET ("3D") Tri-Gate transistors , from the former generation's 32 nm Sandy Bridge microarchitecture—also known as tick–tock model .
These quad-core processors are designed for "ultraportable gaming" laptops with 28-35 W TDP. [12] Intel officially launched the 11th generation Intel Core-H series and Xeon W-11000M series on May 11, 2021 [13] and announced the 11th generation Intel Core Tiger Lake Refresh series (1195G7 and 1155G7) on May 30, 2021.
