Mackenzie is an unincorporated community in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 134 at the 2010 census. [6] In April 2018, the village of Mackenzie voted to dissolve, reverting to unincorporated St. Louis County, effective midnight June 25, 2018. [7]
McKenzie was a Scot by birth, a Canadian immigrant as a teenager. He became a clerk for the North West Company, learning the fur business.Losing his job when his employer was merged into the Hudson's Bay Company, McKenzie traveled to St. Louis in 1822, applied for US citizenship and joined the Columbia Fur Company, heading it by the mid-1820s.
Colonel Dent was a farmer in St. Louis County. He owned 925 acres along Gravois Creek, 10 miles southwest of the city, and owned slaves to farm the land.
