Rau (also referred to as Rauu) is a 1972 Marathi historical fiction novel by N S Inamdar.The story revolves around the fictionalized romance between real-life historical characters of the Maratha General Peshwa Baji Rao I and his second wife Mastani (born of a Hindu father and Muslim mother).

Mastani was born to Chhatrasal, and his concubine Ruhani Begum. [8] [9] Her father was the founder of the Panna State.[10]She and her father were followers of the Pranami Sampradaya, a Hindu sect based on the Bhakti worship of Sri Krishna, but as her mother was Shia, she was also a follower of Shia Islam.
With Bajirao, she had four children, including Balaji Baji Rao and Ragunath Rao. Balaji succeeded Bajirao as Peshwa upon the latter's death in 1740. Also following Bajirao's death, Kashibai fostered her step-son, Shamsher Bahadur, whose mother was Bajirao's second wife, Mastani. [1] [2]

[3] The movie was dubbed in Tamil and Telugu and hence the song was also released as "Thindaadi Poagiraen" in Tamil [4] and "Mastani" in Telugu [5] on 25 November 2015. Shreya Ghoshal rendered her voice to all the three versions of the song.
Raja Sen - Priyanka, Ranveer are terrific in Bajirao Mastani - Padukone -- as Mastani, the fiery warrior princess -- looks dazzling, but her performance is wishy-washy. She starts off smiling oddly through grim dialogue and then appears to be making sword-noises with her mouth when in battle.
Padukone made her film debut by playing the title role in the Kannada-language film Aishwarya (2006). [2] Her first Hindi film release came the following year with Farah Khan's melodrama Om Shanti Om, in which she played dual roles opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
