Check some of the sites at the top of the page using the link in my signature line. While it works for Airheads (and likely others), you could try entering your VIN (guess it would be the last 7-digits) into the appropriate search box at the top of the RealOEM search page.
bimmer.work used to be a good decoder, but I cannot get any results from it tonight. Tried two computers and a phone, four different browsers. Either no Captcha offered, or endless Captchas, or the Captcha is verified and then the fields just clear and I'm back where I started with no results.
Can anyone recommend a currently active VIN decoder website that will provide options as well as the basic info? My go-to, mdecoder.com, has suddenly stopped working for me. It says I've exceeded the daily limit, but I haven't even used it for quite a while. I've tried others that I found posted in older threads, too.

Ran the decoder on my '84 R100RT. Vehicle code 0449 and series K57 came up on the list. Need some enlightenment on those numbers. Thx. Bike is an escort bike, much like a police bike.
Here is a simple method to tell. Look at your transmission oil pan. If your pan is smooth, it is the GM. If it has some lines crossing like tic tac toe, it is the ZF. my oil pan is smooth. so my question now is which part number do I go by for fluid. I dont understand why in the world a manufacturer would make this so difficult.
Works for me today, right now. Always has when I tried it but that is not very often. It wants all of your VIN also. There was one that took your last 7 digits. I am not sure I have that one any longer. Here is another. https://bimmer.work/. I printed one, and screen captured one, so I got enough info.
Howdy, Does anyone have a LINK to decrypt the VIN from my newly purchased 2005 GS? Just some general info, but would like to see MFG date and possible options or ?? whatever. Thanks BTW; I enjoyed the MOA Rally, GS's are surly represented well. Lots of farkles, overloaded with options...
This statement is not true on the website - "BMW VIN-Decoder for all BMW Vehicles from 01/1928 to 01/2014". It goes on to say "6 digit motorcycle-VINs are not supported" but yet they say it support vehicles back to 1928. Kind of hard to do that if it only support 7-digit VINs!! The above link is in the list of Resources and Links.
