Sea Isle City is a city in Cape May County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.The city, and all of Cape May County, is part of the South Jersey region of the state and of the Ocean City metropolitan statistical area, and is part of the Philadelphia-Wilmington-Camden, PA-NJ-DE-MD combined statistical area, also known as the Delaware Valley or Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Townsends Inlet Bridge is a toll bridge across the inlet, carrying Ocean Drive between Avalon and Sea Isle City. The bridge was built around 1940 and while it has undergone repairs, it is aging and has deteriorated. Plans to replace it are being developed. [2]

Sea Grove, later renamed Cape May Point, was founded in 1875. In 1879, Ocean City was founded as a religious retreat. [19] Sea Isle City was founded in 1882, followed by West Cape May in 1884. In 1885, Anglesea (renamed North Wildwood in 1906) and Holly Beach (later a part of Wildwood) were founded. [14]
An older model operated at the park from 2005 to 2010, but the model was relocated to Gillian's Funland in Sea Isle City from 2011 to 2013. The newer model was purchased in 2012. The Sea Isle City model now operates at Alabama Splash Adventure in Bessemer, Alabama as Centi-Speed. [36] A new paint scheme was added for the 2021 season.
The six classroom Sea Isle City Public School opened in 1914. The city government in 1970 sought to build another school after it determined the 1914 building to be "structurally deficient". A school was built in 1971, and it was dedicated on February 5, 1972. The 1914 building was ultimately razed after being used for other purposes. [7]
