I taught middle and high school math from the Saxon texts for 5 years in a private school. There are several problems with this approach: 1)The Saxon series teaches incrementally. At some point the mind wants subjects and topics to categorize what it has learned. I contend that after Pre-Algebra the Saxon method of teaching is slower.
