The New Living Translation (NLT) is a translation of the Bible in contemporary English. Published in 1996 by Tyndale House Foundation , the NLT was created "by 90 leading Bible scholars." [ 4 ] The NLT relies on recently published critical editions of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.
This New Living Translation is a full translation from the original languages rather than a paraphrase of the Bible. Another project aimed to create something in between the very literal translation of the King James Bible and the more informal Good News Bible. The goal of this was to create a Bible that would be scholarly yet not overly formal.
The NLV uses a limited vocabulary of about 850 words, not including proper names. This was done to make the text easier to read and understand, a goal that the Ledyards felt was not adequately met by existing English translations of the Bible.
