Marion is a town in Union Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 765 at the 2010 census , a decrease from 806 at the 2000 census . This population includes the village of Truxno in the northwestern corner of the city limits.
Union Parish (French: Paroisse de l'Union) is a parish located in the north central section of the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,107. [1] The parish seat is Farmerville. [2] The parish was created on March 13, 1839, from a section of Ouachita Parish.
Finally in 1852, Jacob Ryan was successful in having the parish seat relocated from Marion to the east bank of Lake Charles. This parish seat was incorporated in 1857 as the town of Charleston; it was reincorporated in 1868 as Lake Charles. It is located about six miles (9.7 km) from Marion, now known as Old Town.
Louisiana Highway 33 (LA 33) is a state highway located in northern Louisiana. It runs 44.03 miles (70.86 km) in a southwest to northeast direction from U.S. Highway 80 (US 80) in Ruston to the Arkansas state line north of Marion .
