The race continues. After fighting yet another rival crew and an encounter with a group of large sea kings, they arrive at the island the eternal pose points to. The eternal poses were all mislabeled and led the fleet of unsuspecting pirates into reach of the cannons of the navy stronghold Navarone. Luffy has no doubt as to whose fault it is.
The memory pushes him to successfully climb out. Usopp brings the Marines to Kaya's mansion, but Kuro dissuades them and hands over Luffy, who was unconscious after eating a poisoned soup meant for Kaya. Zoro rescues Luffy from the Marines and defeats Kuro's subordinates, while Luffy battles and defeats Kuro.
After Hiriluk's death, Chopper becomes Dr. Kureha's assistant and learns her medical knowledge. Luffy tries "to convince Chopper to join the crew as the ship's Doctor". A frightened Chopper continues to give Luffy the slip and later explains he can't be part of the crew because he is a monster.

After rejecting Hammond's offer to join him, the Straw Hats use a final Coup de Burst to escape, causing the Thousand Sunny to enter Fishman Island and nearly drown the crew. Luffy, Usopp, Sanji, and Chopper wake up in Camie's home and learn that Jinbe has resigned from the Seven Warlords.
