On July 23, 1999, an All Nippon Airways Boeing 747-481D with 503 passengers on Flight 61, including 14 children and 14 crew members on board, took off from Tokyo Haneda Airport in Ōta, Tokyo, Japan and was en route to New Chitose Airport in Chitose, Japan, near Sapporo [1] when it was hijacked by Yūji Nishizawa.
The site is called Seat 61 after his preferred seat in First Class on the Eurostar. [3] He began the site as a hobby in 2001, [2] after frustration with the difficulty he perceived in finding how to book rail tickets within Europe. [2] In September 2007 he gave up his job working for the Department for Transport to run the website full-time. [4]
In the August 15, 1960 issue of The Province, a Canadian newspaper, the story was reported with some alterations.In an article titled "Man with his own country", the newspaper claimed that John Allen Kuchar Zegrus was "a naturalized Ethiopian and an intelligence agent for Colonel Nasser", and carried a passport "issued at Tamanrasset, the capital of Taured south of the Sahara".
